Are you
periodically reviewing your clients?
Did you know that Troika can assist with user-defined
periodic and client reviews?
Pre-defined questions can be completed and stored
in the system allowing reviews to be analyzed historically.
This may help with regulatory reporting requirements
and assists with your internal 'Know Your Client'
processes. Any structured process can be easily added
to Troika for example:-
- Identity verification
- Distribution checklists
- Executive reviews
- New engagement checklists
A system of user defined risk
assessment and risk classification of clients is also
available. Please contact us for further information
about implementing reviews in Troika.

The Troika system and Microsoft
Office 2007
Troika utilises Microsoft Office
for producing accounts and running reports. Development
work is underway to ensure the system will be compatible
with Office 2007, and therefore it cannot currently
be supported. The system currently utilises Office
XP or 2003.
It is anticipated that the necessary
changes to support Word 2007 and Access 2007 will
be complete by late summer. Until then the system
will continue to use Microsoft Access runtime versions
for XP, and Word 2000, XP or 2003 for accounts production.
You may find that aspects of Troika
function within Office 2007 however we will not be
able to support issues arising with compatibility.
Please contact Finapps
support for further information on compatibility
with Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Windows Vista
Troika can be installed on workstations
running Microsoft Windows Vista. 'User Account Controls'
should be disabled or users should be assigned the
correct privilege levels. Feedback from early adopters
of Windows Vista has shown that applications appear
to run slightly slower and we therefore would recommend
increasing workstation memory along with Microsoft
guidelines. You should test the operation of the software
with peripheral devices such as printers and scanners
to ensure they operate correctly.
Please contact Finapps
support for further information on installing
Troika on Windows Vista.

*New* Inheritance
Tax tools added
The first phase of the new integrated
Inheritance Tax module has now been released. It is
based on the Troika Administration system. The module
makes full use of the entity structure and the document
management and tasks and workflows to provide a management
framework for the estate. The module operates under
both English and Scottish law.
In Phase One complete estate accounts
are available, and estates that result in the formation
of Trusts can transfer the relevant assets and liabilities
in the Trust – so no need to re-key. Phase Two, due
for release in 2008 will contain all the relevant
forms, including the IHT 200.
If you would like to learn more

July 2005 -
Press Release, ICAEW
Accountancy
practitioners to benefit from Institute's new software
standard
Accountants
in practice should find their lives easier as a result
of a new software standard pioneered by the Institute
of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).
The standard, called xPS (eXtensible Practice Standard),
will facilitate accountancy firms use of different
software packages from different suppliers.
xPS
is an XML-based standard (schema) for
storing and exchanging many categories of standing
data used by accountancy practices. It will be incorporated
into software used by accountancy practices and providers
of other professional services to facilitate data
sharing.
The
new standard was developed by the Practice Software
Suppliers Forum, an informal group convened by the
Institutes IT Faculty. Participants include
APS, CaseWare, Digita, Finapps
- Troika, Iris Software Ltd, MYOB, Practice
Engine, PTP Software Limited, Sage UK Ltd and Star.
The development was led by Digita, with participation
from many other members of the group who provided
input and feedback. Members of the forum committed
themselves to working with the xPS standard to enable
the sharing of client/contact information held within
each others' applications.
The
next stages of the project will be:
- To
take significant steps towards getting minimum import/export
functionality in accordance with the standard
- To
consider opportunities for usefully extending the
scope of the standard.
John
Court, Head of the IT Faculty at the ICAEW, commented:
The aim of the standard is to help our practitioner
members to use the software of their choice and be
confident that if they want to transfer information
between different software packages they can do so.
The
standard is owned, on behalf of the practice software
suppliers who have contributed to the project, by
the Institutes IT Faculty. Copies of the relevant
technical files may be obtained from www.icaew.co.uk/itfac
